Beating sense into the day's news

Liberty Has No Champion

For the past few days I've been visiting relatives in Canada, and witnessed the end of their 5 week prime-ministerial election campaign. Yup, you heard right. Five weeks. I seriously doubt Canadians were any less well informed about the positions of their parties' nominees than Americans, however, despite our nearly two year election season.

My main observation? North America has no champion of liberty. No major party, no medium sized party, no party with more than an infinitesimal national following has the defence of individual human liberty as its central ideal.

I guess most folks want to be able to push other folks around, whether it be in how their money is spent or the way they live their lives.

Bloody shame.
