Beating sense into the day's news

Is There a Conspiracy Against Canada?

It seems that every time Canada pops up in the news in any context related to the United States, it is a story about antipathy and/or conflict. Try doing a Google News search on [Canada "United States"] and see how many positive stories you come up with.

It's almost as if the media is trying to drive a wedge between the two nations -- except that most Canadians apparently already think there is a wedge and most Americans are, well, not reading news stories about Canada.

If it is a conspiracy, it thus has the distinction of being simultaneously unnecessary and irrelevant.
