The Cat's Tango

Enough with the politics, education policy, and Canada/U.S. relations banter! Let's talk beer.

My next-door neighbors are bopping around Europe at the moment, visiting relatives and enjoying some vacation time, and this has got me reflecting on previous trips to the Old World. For some reason (maybe because neighbor-Bob and I have been known to knock back a brewski or two together) I was reminded of "Le Tango du Chat" (The Cat's Tango), a brew-pub in Paris.

The first time I went there may have been in 1989, but I can't remember! Hmmm. Maybe I did stop in... I definitely visited it with my brother Stu in 1992, and again in 1994 with my then-soon-to-be-wife Kay.

Anyway, this place has been trash-talked a little for being in a touristy area, for (ostensibly) having recently seen its beer selection contract, and, by these "Young Idiots" as being too expensive. I'll vouch for the last of those, which is probably due to the first. Anyway, if you're ever in the "City of Lights," and you're on the Left Bank near Isle St. Louis, drop in and have a brew. There's also an old Church nearby, one of the oldest in Paris, that has regular performances by medieval and renaissance musicians. Makes for a nice night out.
