Beating sense into the day's news

I Told You So

On the eve of last year's presidential election, I wrote a post explaining the difference between eloquence and intelligence. The point was to help the international Left understand that president Bush's tortured grammar is a poor guide to his mental acuity - that the man they know as Chimpy McHitler might actually be more intelligent than his erstwhile political rival, Senator John Kerry.

At the time, I pointed to military records that suggested this might be the case. Now we've got Senator Kerry's grades as well, and they point to the same conclusion. Both men attended Yale. Kerry's average grade was one point lower than Bush's. Grades aren't an infallible indicator of brains, but they are suggestive, and these particular grades suggest that Kerry voters who imagined they were choosing an intellectual powerhouse over a cognitive lightweight were mistaken.
